Mark's Campaign
This website is a place where friends and strangers can browse the ancient and current RPG campaigns that I have created over the past 40 years. Rather than simply shredding my creations from past decades, I will hopefully engrave them in the dubious permanence of the internet. Enjoy the gallery!

Chapter 6: Poking the Devil
I had an idea to do a campaign cross-over adventure. Since the RotP campaign followed chronologically with the RotRL campaign I thought it would be fun to revisit the players' original Pathfinder characters and take them on one last adventure as the powerful high level heroes they ended up becoming. Then I would merge that into something that their current characters were doing and create an 'ah ha' moment. I think it ended up rather well. Since Jon was not part of the RotRL campaign, I reintroduced the elf ranger NPC Shalelu Andosana and had Jon play her in this part.
Poking the Devil (Halloween 2014)

Synopsis:

The archfiend Hganthyrphorum, a Belier devil who has orchestrated the takeover of the Wildwood Lodge is personally supervising the corruption and binding of the druids and their new guests. Information has come to Abel Redforge of the need to distract the powerful devil when the main party arrives to investigate. So Abel has recruited his old adventuring friend from his younger days, Shalelu Andosana. He has heard stories of recent events that she was involved with, including a group of powerful heroes who may be able to provide just the right type of distraction at the best moment.

Abel will contact Shalelu, who he has heard is currently in Riddleport after visiting her native Mierani Forest to the northwest to help battle the drow infestation. He will welcome her aboard the Rising Sun and will set sail for the small coastal town of Sandpoint, where he believes several of her old friends may reside.

Shalelu will be given the task of finding her old companions and directing them to the archfiend’s secret lair, beneath Aroden’s Rise in Westcrown. There, the group must do three things; infiltrate the fiend’s inner sanctums, discover his true name to bypass the protections of his lair and person and defeat him if possible.

The group will use a scrying spell to penetrate the outer areas of the fiend’s lair and take a quick look at the surroundings and guards. From there, they will need to teleport in and make their way to the fiend’s vault and then to his main chamber. Once the vault has been breached he will be immediately alerted and will teleport away from the Lodge to face his intruders in all his wrath.

Teaser/Setup (10/2/14)

To Shel: You have recently left the Mierani Forest, where you have spent the past few months assisting your homeland to beat back the continual drow incursion in the area. Sitting in a comfortable chair at the One-eyed Siren, an old tavern near the ominous Cyphergate in Riddleport, you are approached by a fiery-red bearded dwarf who smiles in recognition.

“Well they said you come here for a drink every so often, but that’s not the elf I knew in me youth. Yet here you are in this sodden lump of toast. How you been faring, lass?”
The elf woman takes a few moments to recognize the boisterous dwarf but then nods and smiles.
“It’s been a decade or three Abel. You look like you are still having fun with your cloak and dagger crap.”
She nods to a thin easterner that sits within earshot of their conversation.
The dwarf grins. “Aw, so ye spotted Po, huh? Always underestimated those elfy eyes of yours.”
“So what brings you to Riddleport, old friend? More intrigue and plots?” The elf pours him a tankard of surprisingly cheap rotgut and pushes it towards him.
He takes it and downs it in one gulp. “Don’t you know it. As a matter of fact, I need your help with this latest plot. Come back to my ship and let’s talk. How about it?”
She grins at him and nods. “Very well. So what color is your ship this time?”

A short time later… The Rising Sun is hugging the Lost Coast, heading south. Soon, the docks of a small town come into view and the ship makes for port.
“Welcome to Sandpoint, Shalelu, my old friend! Time to round up your old friends!”

All characters can level themselves to 15 for next session.

Sandpoint - where it all began...
Part 1: Getting the Band Back Together

After the battle with Karzoug in his demi-plane prison called the Eye of Avarice and your return to the prime material after destroying the Soul Lens with your runeforged weapons the machinations of the Runelord began unravelling quickly. Although greatly wounded, the release of a huge burst of positive energy revived and even resurrected those who has lost their lives in the final combat.

Most of the denizens of Karzoug’s tower fled the area by the quickest means possible, be it through teleport, plane shift or simply running away. However, one of the more unusual finds here was a room with a strange device that you find out has the ability to siphon the energy of the runewell and create a rift between this plane and the plane called Leng. It was even postulated that if the device had successfully activated, the elder being known as Mhar may have re-entered this plane and wrought unimaginable carnage.

However, you were successful and although you have averted a terrible threat to Varisia, most of the region’s inhabitants didn’t even notice—to them, stopping the very real threat of a possible invasion by giants made the you as much heroes as anything else you may have done. Nonetheless, there are some who know the true extent of what you had accomplished, from lowly Brodert Quink (whose claims that your group saved Varisia from the End of the World merely become the latest in a long line of unbelievable tales) all the way up to organizations like the Pathfinders. Some weeks after you return from Xin-Shalast, you were contacted by the Pathfinder Society and asked for your story. This necessitated escorting several Pathfinders to Xin-Shalast, and for discovering the city and revealing its route, and proving to their satisfaction the feats that you performed for the good of the region, the Pathfinder Society awarded each of you’re a staggering sum of 50,000 gp each.
Since that time, your group has stayed in touch and in the area. You enjoy legendary status in Sandpoint and Magnimar and are known heroes throughout Varisia. Your stronghold, which used to be Fort Rannick is now fully staffed with permanent teleport circles from there to Sandpoint (Kaijitsu Manor, home of Ameiko Kaijutsu) and Magnimar (in a private residence the city gave to you as your home when visiting). Currently the party is residing in one of those three locales.
1-2 (Sandpoint) 3-4 (Magnimar) 5-6 (Fort Rannick)
Shalelu is given the task of getting the group back to Sandpoint within the next week to meet with Abel and Po at the Rusty Dragon. Abel has told her that he has a ‘fantastic challenge’ for her friends that should net them some good reward and ample satisfaction. If that isn’t enough incentive, Abel has arranged to have the party paid with a special mystery surprise that he knows they will like. (he will have their Fort transformed into a floating citadel that can be moved wherever they wish).
